Our Ki o rahi tournament

Yesterday Mr.Bell had an excellent idea for us to play in a Ki o Rahi tournament and it was the very first tournament at St Patrick’s School. Rooms 6, 7 and 8 were taking part. The tournament was going to happen after morning tea. When morning tea ended we had to go under the canopy to get into our houses. The houses are Rimu, Kauri, Totara and Rata. Sadly I got injured when it was morning tea and couldn’t play but I still had fun watching the houses play. There were 8 rounds  and some people had 1 or 2 rounds.

I loved watching the tournament and everyone played fairly and had a good time. Thanks coach Trey for being the referee and giving Willietony the $100 from Monopoly. It was funny.

My Digital Footprint by Zenalia

Today we are learning to make a respectful and positive environment digital footprint, we need to stop and take a look of what we are saying in the media. Because we sometimes do not know what we are saying, so make sure that we stop and think about what we are typing in in the media.

If you are not sure ask an adult that it is safe.

Pelicans

Pelicans live in All continents except antarctica. The white pelican lives in Australia near rivers, the sea and on the land.

The pelicans were discovered in 1758.

Pelicans can live for 15 to 25 years.

It dives down under the water and scoop up the water in its bill. Then they drain the water from the pouch and eat the fish that is left behind.

Pelicans feed their babies by opening their bills and regurgitating food for the babies.

ANZAC Biscuits

Last Thursday the class ate some ANZAC biscuits and we had to describe them. I learned that they were made over a hundred years ago during World War 1, when the women baked them and sent them to the soldiers as a treat. I was surprised that there is still a recipe for ANZAC biscuits. The ingredients were butter, flour, golden syrup, and baking soda. I think some people add coconut in the cookie. When I picked it up the crumbs started to fall, making a mess. I was nervous at first because I thought it was going to taste rough as a rock. When I tasted it the biscuit exploded in my mouth making me want even more. It tasted as sweet as chocolate covered strawberries. For one second I thought I was in heaven. I enjoyed the cookie even though I couldn’t have more than one. I decided when I get home I’m going to ask my mom if she can try baking them.

My 175 Jubilee celebration

On Friday when I woke up my mom made me some pancakes for breakfast. After that I took a shower then changed for school. I was so excited because we were going to celebrate our 175th Jubilee.

When we went to mass we did all the normal things we do at mass. After that the priest asked us some questions about St Patrick.

After mass we went outside to see the time capsule and when we opened it there were lots of old pictures from 25 years ago inside.

After church we went to class and then the bell rang so we went outside to eat our morning tea. After morning tea the whole school went to the canopy and the principal put us into certain teams to play with.

After we had finished we ate some Popsicles. It was a great celebration of St Patrick’s day.

Learning shortcuts on the Chromebook.

This morning Mrs Grant came to our class to teach us about shortcuts on our Chromebooks. We learned how to copy and paste – you press control c and control v. We have also learned a lot of short cuts today and my favorite shortcut was taking a screenshot control shift and then you press the square with 2 lines.

It was really hard but then I got what I  had to do.

I really enjoyed this morning.

Preparing for Athletics Day

Earlier today we were preparing for athletics Day. My classmates and I went onto the field to do athletics skills. When we were there we saw Coach Bart who was going to teach us some new skills. At first I thought it was fun when he told us to stand tall, pump our arms and legs and run on our toes. After we did all these warm ups,  he  told us we were going to play sheepdog. Its like tag but those sheepdogs each have a noodle there are two dogs who try to hunt the sheep while they run away from the dogs. I didn’t really wanted to be the dog so I stayed behind my classmates. It was fun and tiring at the same time. There were 2 rounds as well.

The next skill was a running race we had to practice. I was way behind the line so it means that I’m last to race. At first the race was fun but the last one I started getting stomach aches so I went a little slower. when I got back to the line I sat down to get some rest.

Finally the last game was foam pig jumping. It’s about getting a toy animal and laying down on the grass and placing the pig above your head on the ground. I started getting itchy as well. Then we had to get up and go back to the start and then try and jump  to the other side of the animal. We did that two times and then Coach Bart reminded us how to jump far by bending our legs and then swinging our arms when we jump.

When we were done we all said goodbye to Coach Bart.
